What
are the Instructional Technology Open Lab and
Teaching with Technology
Workshops / Open Labs?
The
Teaching with Technology Workshops
and
Instructional Technology Open Labs
are an effort to have a “space” available for faculty and
staff to participate in
training,
brainstorming,
and show-and-tell sessions. The classrooms have been
reserved (thanks Starr) for the entire semester. Even if a
training session is not scheduled, the classrooms will be open
for one-on-one assistance, brainstorming sessions, and
show-and-tell sessions.
When and
where are the sessions?
|
3:15-4:00 pm |
|
Mondays |
Tuesdays |
|
Sheridan – W139A
Gillette 153
|
Sheridan – W139B
Gillette 153 |
Some training sessions will originate from
Sheridan…some from Gillette. The reserved classrooms are ITV
classrooms so both campuses can benefit. I know the 3:15-4:00
timeframe may not work for everyone. We will reassess this
project and request feedback at the end of the semester.
What
training opportunities are envisioned?
Workshop topics could include Turnitin,
SoftChalk, TurningPoint clickers, Camtasia, iTunesU, Respondus,
ePortfolios, class blogging, geotagging, class wikis, image
editing with Photoshop, advanced SmartBoard features, and many
other possibilities.
Can I
conduct a training session?
Please contact me (sgaddy@sheridan.edu
or x2510) if you would like to share with your colleagues…..
- a
face-to-face or online teaching strategy (assessment,
classroom management, etc.)
- a
Microsoft Office or other software training session
- FREE
software tools for classroom/online use
- a
cool instructional tool (clickers, SmartBoards, wireless
chalkboards, etc.)
-
brainstorming sessions on tips and tricks, ideas, and/or
concerns relating to the instructional experience
Do I
have to wait until Mondays and Tuesdays to receive one-on-one
assistance?
No. The technical and instructional support
staff are available as always. The open lab just gives us the
opportunity to better organize training and roundtable
discussions on instruction and technology. |
